Ventnor Rugby Club raises money for the Team Teddy Appeal

Ventnor RFC's 2nd XV skipper, Jack Rushton presents cheque to Dan, Jess and Teddy Ward with supporters looking on

Ventnor Rugby Club’s fund-raising efforts during May’s Randonee has enabled a £400 donation to the Team Teddy Appeal for Teddy Ward, a two-year-old boy who suffers from a rare life-limiting mitochondrial disease about which very little is known. The Lily Foundation are funding much-needed research into the condition.

Teddy’s father, Dan Ward, is physio for the Isle of Wight Rugby Club, and he and nine team-mates and supporters are undertaking The Three Peaks Challenge in September in support of Team Teddy.

Roly Toombs, Ventnor RFC’s Randonnee team organiser, said: “We are delighted to make this donation to Dan, Jess and young Teddy. And I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers, who worked so hard to participate in another highly successful Randonnee, as well as the retailers on the Island who provided such proactive assistance to the cause.”
