The Island Men’s 2nd team secured an impressive 7–4 away victory over US Portsmouth, in a high-energy match. The game started with an early goal from Peter McClelland, but US Portsmouth quickly responded with two goals to take the lead. Seb Foster struck a brilliant equaliser to bring the score to 2–2 at the break.
Motivated by a half-time talk from captain, Carl Joyce, the team came out firing, with Thomas Young scoring a rapid hat-trick, giving the Island side a strong advantage. Carl added a goal of his own, and Peter netted his second of the game to seal the win.
Jarrod Butler was named player-of-the-match for a remarkable mid-air goal-line clearance.
The result, a well-deserved 7–4 win, capped off a great team performance, with 4th-placed IW having a break before facing Havant at Smallbrook on April 26.
