A coffee morning for Mountbatten, attended by High Sheriff Nigel Hartley, raised £825 at Yarmouth Sailing Club on Friday.
The fundraiser, organised by Yarmouth WI, was a huge success with tables packed with a variety of cakes made, and served, by the volunteers.
Yarmouth WI President, Lynne Rowcroft, welcomed Nigel, who said: “I retired as CEO of Mountbatten a year ago after 11 years and it was a big decision. After 40 years working in a hospital, I jumped straight into this job and since April I have been trying to see as many people as possible.
“On a day-to-day basis, I see good people doing good things and it’s contagious. People are so committed to their causes and so committed to what they are doing.
“We hear so much bad news but we need to understand the world is OK, certainly the Island is OK, there is so much positivity here.
“Supporting Mountbatten is one of the best things on the Island and long may it continue. We will all need it and it’s very important to give it our support, so keep doing good things!”
