Brave Cassidy Ley, from Ventnor, has been chosen as this year’s ambassador for Naomi House and Jacksplace, during ‘Do More Good Week’.
Naomi House and Jacksplace are hospices which provide specialist care and support for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions, and Cassidy, 20, lives with a number of painful terminal medical conditions, including a heart disease that affects its ability to pump blood around the body and a rare genetic skin condition leaving her in constant pain. She has suffered from complex health issues from birth, yet is always caring and helpful to those around her, even volunteering at a local children’s centre.
Generous Islanders have donated almost £23,000, which has enabled Cassidy to buy specialist medical equipment and take part in trips and experiences, so that she can enjoy whatever time she has left. The fund-raising page, organised by her cousin, Jodie Lacey, can be reached via iw.observer/cassidys-journey.
Cassidy’s daily life is shaped by complex medical challenges, chronic pain, and a demanding care routine.
Despite this, she’s determined to make the most of every moment, finding comfort in the support provided by Naomi House and Jacksplace.
Do More Good Week shines a spotlight on these charities by sharing the stories of eight young ambassadors.
