Students from The Isle of Wight College have achieved outstanding success at the prestigious MEI Maths Regional Final, held at the University of Sussex’s Brighton campus on Friday.
The competition brought together some of the most promising young mathematicians from across the Southeast, providing a challenging platform for students to apply their problem-solving and analytical skills in a competitive setting.
The Isle of Wight College entered three teams into the event, each categorised by grade. All three teams performed well.
The team named ‘Ein2steins’, made up of Lottie Morris, Lenny Njenga, Tyler Pickett and Logan Phillips, claimed first place, impressing judges with their strong mathematical reasoning and collaborative approach.
Two further teams from the College achieved second place finishes across a series of timed challenges. The ‘Funkies’ team – Elliott Stewart, Liam Cox, Bobby Hope and Blake Bruce-Daly – and the ‘Go Forths’ – Leona Ram, Lily Roy, Summer Broome and George Wilkinson-Silk.
A spokesman for college said: “We are immensely proud of our students’ achievements. Their success reflects their commitment, hard work and enthusiasm for the subject. Competing at this level and securing such strong results is a credit to both the students and the staff who support them.”
