The skies lit up in glorious colour as the annual Yarmouth fireworks display attracted thousands of visitors to

the town on Tuesday.
The huge numbers were not put off by the bridge closure, with Southern Vectis laying on two extra free return bus journeys from Freshwater, while Wightlink gave a discount to cars and passengers coming from Lymington.

Yarmouth Carnival chairman, Jamie Allen, whose committee organised the event, said: “Everything went smoothly and it was great to see the torchlit parade back. The fireworks display was fantastic and it was probably one of the best events we’ve ever had. It was a great crowd, and obviously I’d like to give a massive thanks to volunteers, helpers and our committee for all their hard work. We also had a substantial donation from Wightlink which made a huge difference to our funds.”
The torchlit procession was led off by the FaT Samba Band, with the fireworks being set off from the end of the pier. The winning guy came from Blossoms Florists.
