Wight Noize could see you play the IW Festival

The Optimists - 2023 winners

Young musicians on the Isle of Wight have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform on one of the UK’s most iconic stages through Platform One’s Wight Noize initiative. Designed to support aspiring talent between the ages of 16 and 24, Wight Noize offers artists and bands a chance to showcase their skills to leading industry experts. One standout act will win the chance to open the Isle of Wight Festival’s main stage on Sunday, June 22.

The shortlist of applicants will perform live at Strings Bar & Venue on April 30, where a professional panel will assess their performances. While one act will secure the main stage slot, other talented musicians will perform across the Platform One Stage during the festival.

John Giddings, the festival’s managing director and a patron of Platform One, has been closely involved in offering these opportunities to local musicians since the festival’s rebirth in 2002. “It’s incredible to see the talent and dedication of young artists. Platform One continues to prepare musicians for the challenges of the industry,” he said.

Past winners, including Marnie Marie and The Optimists, have described the experience as “surreal” and “career-defining.”
