More than £12,000 was raised from the 63rd Shorwell Midsummer Fair, at Wolverton Manor on Saturday.
The fair is one of the last surviving ‘original’ fairs on the Island, and alongside attractions and stalls, there was a tea tent, arena displays and live music.
Organiser, Ben Lambert, said: “It was a really great day; the weather was ideal. It is the third year we have held it at Wolverton. The first year was too hot and last year, too windy! So the perfect conditions brought out the crowds in force.
“We did a couple of different things this year with classic cars on display and a wheelbarrow race, which was won by Sam Russell from the village. His prize was 25kg of potatoes from John Knox Potatoes!”
Among the entertainment was a display by the Medina Marching Band and country dancing from pupils at Brighstone Primary School. There was also a dog agility show with Brighstone Sea Scouts helping out in the tea tent.
All proceeds will be distributed to local charities, community groups and organisations.
