East Cowes Victoria Football Club has announced club chairman, Paul Phelps, passed away last Thursday (February 24) after a short illness.
A spokesman said: “Paul joined the Vics as chairman after serving in the same role at Newport IWFC for a number of years and played a key role in helping the club compete in the Wessex League.
“Paul enjoyed his trips away with the lads to the games and, even when he was ill, he would still keep an eye on our results.
“Anyone who had met Paul will remember him as a kind and gentle man; he was a man who would always be there if you needed advice.
“Our thoughts and love are with Paul’s wife and family at this time.”
