An eight-year-old Isle of Wight footballer is appealing for support after earning a place at Queen’s Park Rangers’ Under-10 Academy.
Florence Buller has been offered the opportunity to train with the London club, after impressing scouts, marking a major milestone in her young football career.
Florence first kicked a ball on the Island with Ryde Saints, before continuing her development at Wight Eagles. Her family say her dedication, hard work, and love of the game have helped her secure the academy place.
However, taking up the opportunity comes with a significant financial challenge.
Training takes place in London twice a week, with matches every Saturday, meaning regular travel between the Island and the mainland. Ferry fares, fuel and other travel costs are expected to place a considerable strain on the family.
The Buller family are now asking for help to ensure Florence can attend training and matches consistently without travel costs becoming a barrier.
In a statement, they said: “Florence is just eight years old and has recently been offered a place in the QPR Under-10s Football Academy – an achievement we are unbelievably proud of.
“This is an amazing opportunity for her to develop her talent, learn from top coaches, and follow her dream of playing football at the highest level.
“We don’t want the cost of travel to become a barrier that prevents Florence from making the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“If you are able to support Florence in any way, no matter how big or small, we would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution will go directly towards her travel costs and help ensure she can continue pursuing her dream.”
