Friends of the Animals have re-homed two dogs who came from “horrible conditions”, with nails so overgrown that they were cutting into their pads as they walked.
Max and Megan, two Border Collie-type dogs are brother and sister, and are 12 years old.
A spokeswoman for the Island charity said: “They are both lovely dogs but were living in horrible conditions and had terribly overgrown nails.
“When we rescued them as well having their nails clipped, Max needed urgent dental treatment, and both desperately needed a wash and groom, which was done by Sara’s Groomers in Bembridge.
“It is very hard to rehome pairs of dogs, but we just couldn’t split them up after they had been through so much together. Fortunately we found them the perfect home and they have just been officially adopted by a wonderful couple.
“We have been lucky again; this is another happy ending.”
In October, with the help of the IW Observer, the charity also found a loving new home for Star and Luna, two cocker spaniels who spent six months in foster care, the longest time the charity has ever taken to find dogs a permanent home.
