Runaway Muffin finally found safe

Muffin, the six-year-old Miniature Dachshund, is finally safe after a remarkable seven weeks on the run. Muffin initially escaped from his garden in Chillerton and, being nervous of both adults and children, evaded all attempts to get him back to his owners.

However, Suzzy Lee, from Drone SAR for Lost Dogs IoW, declared on Monday: “After more than seven weeks since his escape, we are delighted to confirm that two of our team successfully executed a planned trapping operation on Sunday, resulting in the safe capture of Muffin.”

Muffin was eventually caught in a trap, with the Drone SAR team quickly on the scene so he wasn’t alone for very long.

Suzzy added: “With the agreement of his owners, one of whom is currently and unavoidably out of the country, Muffin has been taken for a 48-hour period of assessment and decompression by one of our volunteers, who has more than 30 years professional animal welfare experience, which will include a visit to the vets for a full check up and any necessary treatment.

“We appreciate the very significant level of public interest in this rescue. We are sure that you will all share our overwhelming sense of joy and relief that Muffin is now safe and sound after his time away from home.”
