Limited edition gin marks 10 years for IW distillery

The Isle of Wight Distillery is celebrating a decade of Island distilling, with the launch of a limited-edition 10th Anniversary Mermaid Gin – which they say is crafted to honour the coastline, community and character that shaped it.

Only 1,500 bottles of the celebratory spirit will be released, each featuring a distinctive blend of botanicals, including fig leaves foraged from one of Britain’s oldest fig trees which was planted in 1870 at Ventnor Botanic Garden. Once a rarity in the UK, the tree’s thriving fruit is testament to the Island’s unique microclimate and biodiversity.

“This gin is our tribute to the Island,” said Xavier Baker, co-founder of the Isle of Wight Distillery. “Ten years of learning and evolving, all while being inspired by the Isle of Wight’s native and new botanicals. We wanted to create something special – a spirit that couldn’t come from anywhere else.”

The gin offers a smooth and complex profile, opening with fresh citrus and a hint of creamy coconut. A lively citrus zing is balanced by a whisper of sea air from enhanced rock samphire, finishing with gentle warmth and a long, layered coastal character.

With an alcohol content of 46 per cent, each bottle comes boxed with an exclusive art print by coastal artist, Michelle Lucking, titled ‘Sanctuary’, inspired by the golden hues of sunset and the feeling of melting into the ocean. Only 1,500 bottles will be produced.

The commemorative bottles are priced at £79 and are available now.
