Two beautiful cocker spaniels who waited patiently for a permanent home have finally been adopted.
Ten-year-old sisters, Luna and Star, spent six long months in foster care, the lengthiest stay any dogs have ever had with Island charity, Friends of the Animals. The pair were advertised many times elsewhere, but it was only after the IW Observer featured their plight in August that the two gentle dogs have now found their forever home – and they couldn’t be happier.
A spokeswoman from the charity said: “We could have homed them earlier if we had been prepared to split them up – but we couldn’t do it to these loving sisters, after they had been through so much together.
“After reaching out to the IW Observer, they have now found what we and they waited so long for. It was worth it in the end, because they are now enjoying their loving and permanent home in the West Wight. It is lovely to see them so happy.
“They settled surprisingly quickly and are enjoying their new lives and some great walks. If they are not cuddled up on the sofa with their new owners, Jennifer and Ray, they are snuggled up in their own armchair.
“We have also completed successful home checks for two more IW Observer readers, who were interested in Luna and Star. They are now just waiting for the right dogs to come along. We can’t thank the IW Observer enough for all your help.”
