Aspire in Ryde has helped young Archie Bartlett turn his life around and helped him earn the accolade of an Isle of Wight High Sheriff’s Award.

The Island’s High Sheriff, Kay Marriott, selected Archie for recognition when she heard of the progress he had made despite a number of adversities in his life. His mum, Stacey Bartlett, joined him to receive the award.

A spokeswoman for Aspire said: “The changes we, as a team, have witnessed during Archie’s time at Aspire have blown us away. “The free food, team and facilities have provided a safe space for Archie to grow, which has, in turn, advanced his progression of musical development and has given him a great focus point.
“Archie has had drum lessons and regularly jumps on the piano, but mostly works on his vocals and has a few live performances under his belt already now. This has given him confidence and a new tool to deal with life’s frustrations helping him to express himself in a safe and creative way.
“Well done Archie.“
