Year 6 pupils capture the moment

Dover Park Primary School brought the curtain down on the academic year in true Isle of Wight style – with a full-blown music festival that turned the playground into a sea of glitter, flower crowns and dancing feet.

On the final day of term, pupils were treated to a celebration with a difference. Live performances from Mrs Grubb and her Merry Men, The Tuesdayz Rock and Roll Band, and young talent from Ryde Lift Academy had children – and staff – on their feet, soaking up the sunshine and the vibes.

Year 5 pupils enjoyed the festival

Festival fashion was in full force, with pupils donning sparkles, funky sunglasses and wellies, while the school grounds buzzed with inflatable slides, bouncy castles, outdoor games, bubbles and even a pop-up disco. Laughter rang across the playground as children bounced, boogied and slid their way into the summer holidays.

The day also marked a fond farewell to long-serving teacher Maria Kirby, who leaves after 15 years of dedicated service. Her impact on generations of Dover Park pupils was warmly acknowledged by staff and families alike.

Headteacher Jon Kirby said: “It was the perfect way to wrap up the term and to say goodbye to our incredible Year 6 class. The children have worked so hard all year – they absolutely deserved a day of pure fun. Huge thanks to the bands and everyone who helped make it such a brilliant event.”

With glitter in their hair and smiles on their faces, Dover Park’s pupils are heading off into the summer break with memories that will last long after the music has faded.
