A bumper day of free family entertainment takes place with two carnivals in Sandown tomorrow (Saturday).

The summer holiday fun starts with the Children’s Parade, which sets off from the Pier at 11am. The procession heads along the seafront to Sandham Gardens, where there’s music from Soundwaves Entertainment, comedy and magic from Stevo & Kai, and an eagerly awaited set by Marnie Marie, the up-and-coming Island singing talent, who performed on the Main Stage at last month’s Isle of Wight Festival.

At 7pm, Sandown’s popular Main Carnival hits the High Street and makes its way through the town with marching and samba bands, spectacular floats, and all the usual festive razzmatazz. Carnival chairman, Paul Coueslant, said: “‘We can’t wait to welcome everyone to one of the town’s biggest days of the summer, and advise people to arrive early to get a good view of the evening parade.”
