Cowes WI turns pre-loved clothes into charity cash

Members of Cowes WI staged a successful New to Me Fashion Show at Cowes Football Club last week, raising valuable funds for charity while promoting sustainable fashion.

The event attracted enthusiastic support from the local community, with guests enjoying the opportunity to browse and purchase quality pre-loved clothing. Organisers have confirmed that the fashion show has raised £1,100 so far for the group’s charity of the year, Sight for Wight, helping to support its work for people living with sight loss on the Island.

The event also ensured that leftover items continued to benefit good causes. Unsold clothing was collected by the British Heart Foundation, which will sell the items through its charity shops to generate further funds for its own charitable work.

Organisers thanked everyone who supported the event, whether by donating clothes, volunteering their time or attending on the day. The fashion show not only raised money for local charities but also helped reduce waste by giving unwanted clothing a second life.
