A new exhibition celebrating Cowes’ colourful past will bring back memories of pram races, bath races, carnivals, and New Year’s Eve fancy dress, later this month.
Entitled Cowes Capers, the exhibition has been organised by Cowes Heritage and Community Group (CHCG), following requests from visitors to its previous popular displays.
Featuring hundreds of photographs from the group’s archives, it celebrates decades of community events and gatherings in the town.
CHCG chairwoman, Lin Hayward, said: “It is just Cowes enjoying a good old get-together, with or without funny disguises.
“We’ll display photos and information donated over many years and covering several decades. Were you there? Do you recognise anyone? Can you add to our collection?”
The exhibition will be open from 10am to 4pm, Friday, October 23, to Monday, October 26, at the Beckford Centre, opposite Cowes Library.
Admission is free, although donations towards the upkeep of the group’s historic archives will be welcomed.
