St Saviour’s Church in Shanklin recently held an open day with tours of the bell tower.
The tours were led by tower captain, Kieran Downer, who also provided demonstrations of the unique eight-bell circle including an 18cwt bell in note of E, with a separate small sanctus bell, rung on Sundays before parish mass.
The open day also featured a tombola, stalls and refreshments with all proceeds going towards providing training bells.
Potential bell-ringers are always welcome to pop along to the church on Wednesday evenings to have a go and meet other ringers.
