Ventnor Enhancement Fund has bought a 1930s K6 telephone kiosk after British Telecom’s decision to remove the telephone from the box.
The kiosk has been listed as a community asset, with support and permission from the IW Council planning authority, and in liaison with Ventnor Heritage Centre and Ventnor Exchange.
A spokesman said: “It’s early days but we have initial plans. The kiosk needs some TLC to bring the electrics and structure up to standard. We’re just delighted to announce that we finally have ownership and a key to the door.”
From the box you can see St Boniface Down, the highest point on the Island.
