Newport Juniors

Newport Rowing Club celebrated five wins in the season for their junior crew, with the fifth being on home water at Medina. Nate Hamilton, Jake Garner, Connor Garner, Boris Hare, Eric Williams, cox Mariana Hare, and coach Nick Salter, are now looking forward for the challenge of the South Coast Championships, in Plymouth, on September 6.

Ryde had two crews competing in the Open Junior Senior Fours event, with the A crew of Joe Roberts, Paddy Kearney, Will Hall and Isaac Gibson, coxed by Mai Read, winning the final fairly convincingly. The club’s B crew of Ben Robotham, Joe Bird, Yogi Ashworth and Charlie Watts, with cox Harry Watts, finished third.

Ryde’s Coastal Junior Four of Abi Locke, Fiona Owen, Alexis Owen and Emily Kellerman, coxed by Ruby Reed, coxing won their heat and the final convincingly. The three teams will represent Ryde at Plymouth.

A composite Open Novice Four, with Shanklin, included Harry Crofts, Lucas Georgiou, Max Locke, and cox Harry Watts, competed for Ryde and finished second in the final.
