STAR LETTER: Good tidings from a grateful reader

Dear Editor,

As Christmas approaches, I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for the IW Observer and to wish the whole team a very happy Christmas. Week after week, you manage to deliver a newspaper that is not only informative but uplifting, and many of my friends and neighbours value the effort that so obviously goes into producing it.

I’d like you to know that some people genuinely appreciate how the IW Observer continues to be delivered free of charge when many other publications are putting up prices or charge for reading the news online. The fact that your newspaper is freely accessible to everyone on the Island is a real gift.

Too often, news can feel dominated by negativity, but I feel the IW Observer consistently highlights the positive things happening across our community – from charity efforts and local achievements to events that bring people together. That focus on what’s good about Island life really makes a difference.

All too often people write to complain – but forget to thank those that do a good job. I hope that mine is not the only letter letting you know that your work is appreciated.

I’d also like to wish your advertisers (who very kindly pay for my newspaper each week) the compliments of the season as well.

L Jones, Newport

Ed’s note: Thank you, you’re not alone in sending such kind thoughts – which are very much appreciated by the team. As well as our advertisers, we’d also like to thank our distributors – who kindly stock the IW Observer for our readers to pick up.
