Division One
Havenstreet A 1 v Ryde C 9, Ryde B 8 v Ryde Goshawks 2, Ryde Rankers 2 v Ryde A 8.
Ryde A continued their pursuit of top-of-the-table Ryde C, with an 8-2 win against third placed Ryde Rankers.
Hugh Idle and Graham Evans won one each for the Rankers, both in five sets against Pat Thorley, whilst the A team’s Scott Lawson was player-of-the-match and unbeaten, although Idle took him to five sets in a thrilling game.
Ryde C won easily against Havenstreet A, with Roger Hookey winning Havenstreet’s only point with a five-set win over the C team’s Joseph Chapman. Ryde C extended their lead at the top of the table to 15 points, although Ryde A have a match in hand.
Division Two
Shorwell Sinners 3 v Havenstreet B 7, Newport Vics B 1 v Newport Vics A 9, Ryde Resisters 1 v Ryde Retailers 9, Ryde Rovers 5 v Ryde Rogues 5.
In a derby match between Newport Vics A and B teams, there was no debate on who was the best team, with Vics A winning 9-1 to extend their lead at the top of the table. Vics B are still in second, but being caught by Ryde Rising Stars, who are just a point behind and with a match in hand.
Two of the Island village teams met this week, Shorwell Sinners and Havenstreet B in a closely contested match. Havenstreet’s Paul White was unbeaten and player-of-the-match, whilst team mate, Mike Prior, was also unbeaten. The final score was 7-3 to Havenstreet.
Division Three
Wroxall Warriors C 1 v Newport Vics C 9, Wroxall Warriors B 4 v Shorwell Saints 6, Wroxall Warriors A v 10 Wroxall Lizards 0.
Wroxall’s teams had vastly differing results this week, with the A team extending their lead at the top once again, with a 10-0 win against Wroxall Lizards, whilst Wroxall C met second-placed Newport Vics C, losing 9-1, although 13-year-old Joshua Helyer had an excellent win against top ranked Chris Gordine.
