Children at M&M’s Toddler Group, in Northwood, had a lively surprise as Tigger bounced in to take part in the group’s celebrations marking 100 years of Winnie the Pooh.
The group, which meets at Northwood Cricket Club on Thursdays during term time, kicked off the centenary fun, with a special session where children brought along their favourite Pooh‑themed soft toys. The morning ended with everyone singing Happy Birthday to Winnie.
Staff have planned a full term of activities, inspired by the Hundred Acre Wood, including a community coffee morning in April, open to all. A themed wall display was created before the term began, to help set the scene and give the children a sense of where Pooh and his friends “lived”.
Margaret Hill, one of organisers, said they hope the celebrations will bring plenty of joy and imagination to families throughout the term.
