Support Walk the Wight and claim a goodie bag

Walk the Wight 2026 launches on Monday (January 26), and the first ten people to track down Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s fund‑raising team at a secret checkpoint will receive a free goodie bag. The event returns on May 10, with sign‑ups opening the same day via iw.observer/wtw‑2026.

Ashleigh and Megan from Mountbatten will be waiting somewhere along the main Walk the Wight route between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Their exact location will be revealed on Mountbatten’s Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages on Monday. Find them – they can sign you up on the spot – and you could walk away with a goodie bag. If you’re not among the first ten, there will still be water bottles available.

Walk the Wight offers a choice of routes for all ages and abilities. Participants can take on the full 26.5‑mile challenge from Bembridge to Alum Bay, or opt for a half route – either 12 miles from Bembridge to Carisbrooke Castle or 14.5 miles from Carisbrooke to Alum Bay.

Schools can join a flexible 22.5‑mile version, completed in stages however pupils choose – walking, running, cycling or more – before coming together for the final four miles from Freshwater Bay to Alum Bay. There is also an eight‑mile Flat Walk from Sandown to Shide, and Walk the Wight Your Way, allowing supporters to complete their own route at a time and place that suits them.

Entry costs £15 per person, which includes access to the chosen route, an event pack with walker number and fundraising materials, and a commemorative medal presented at the finish.
