A silent vigil was held this week, in Newport, drawing people from across the community to mark the loss of life in the conflict in the Middle East. Participants laid flowers, lit candles, and stood in quiet reflection.
The format allowed individuals to speak if they wished. Among those who addressed the crowd was a Palestinian man, who shared his personal reflections on the impact of the conflict on his family. Others spoke more broadly about grief, loss, and the desire for peace.
Organisers described the event as secular, non-political and open to all and attendees included people of various backgrounds and beliefs.
