No llama drama at the Island’s first llama wedding

The wedding of Sophie & Jack Wood at St Michaels Church recently was a real Shalfleet event. The bride’s mother, Clare Wharf, is a member of the church choir and friends and family filled the building.

Following the ceremony, the happy couple were driven to their reception at East Afton Farm in a 1930 Morris Oxford Six, brought out of storage by another Shalfleet resident especially for the occasion.

On arrival at East Afton Manor, the bridal party met two special guests, llamas Suri and Landon, whose attendance had been requested by Sophie who adores the animals and wanted them to share her special day. They were also turned out in their finery, wearing traditional Peruvian bibs, with owners Simon and Rosa Hill from the Shalfleet Llama farm in matching Peruvian ponchos.

The bride, groom and many of the guests took the opportunity of getting up close to these beautiful, placid creatures and have their picture taken.
