New comedy club is a rip-roaring success

Ballyrags Comedy Club launched the first of their monthly ‘Third Thursday’ shows last week, at Bar 74 in Ryde, which turned out to be a roaring success!

Portsmouth comedian, Matt Roseblade, kicked off the show, with Islanders, Polly Proud and Alex Toye, before the interval, then Victorian rapper, Baron Fortitude, opening the second half of the show. Welsh comedian, Simon Emanuel, brought the evening to a close with a hilariously energetic performance.

The comedy club, which has been put together by Luc Valvona and Toby Brown, is already gaining excellent reviews on social media and is anticipating further growth with stellar line-ups in store for the future.

Speaking after the event, co-founder and host, Toby Brown, said: “What a night; what a crowd! I’m absolutely delighted with how it went and the feedback we’ve had so far, the acts were all excellent and the next show already looks amazing!”

Co-founder, Luc Valvona, also of the Isle of Wight School of Comedy, said: “It was so good to see Polly and Alex, two of my comedy students, go up on stage and hold their own with the professionals on their second and third gigs respectively. They absolutely smashed it. I was watching from the back with Simon (the headliner) and he reckons they’ll go far.”
