Mince Pie Marathon team is back in action

The 2023 Mince Pie Marathon Team

The annual Mince Pie Marathon, in support of the Wight Brainy Bunch, is back for 2024.

The charity event will be spreading festive cheer — and delicious mince pies — across the Island to businesses and residents alike.

Over the years, the event, organised by local web and design studio, Brightbulb, has raised nearly £25,000 for charity. The Brightbulb team and sponsors deliver thousands of pre-ordered mince pies, all in a single marathon day. Participants eagerly compete to top the Mince Pie Marathon leaderboard displayed on the event website.

This year, Brightbulb is joined by headline sponsor, Yokogawa Marex, a Cowes-based software company, alongside Raven Print and Wight Productions. Together, they’re working to make this the largest and most mouth-watering event yet.

Brightbulb’s managing director, Matt Jeffery, shared his excitement: “Halloween is over, so it’s time to put on our Christmas hats and celebrate the magic of the mince pie once more. This event means so much to us and to the charity,” he said.

Over the past few years, funds raised from the initiative have supported local families affected by brain tumours, helping cover costs for cognitive rehabilitation therapy, counselling, transportation for radiotherapy, and small grants to help with lost wages.
