A waitress at the Eight Bells, Carisbrooke, is having her head shaved to raise £2,000 for Mountbatten Hospice.
Helen Luggatt, 52, from Newport, is doing the shave in memory of her mother, Jill, who passed away with cancer four years ago.
She explained: “My mother used Mountbatten as a hotel on occasions during her treatment. I cared for her for eight months and she did not want to go quietly. She was determined to pass away in her own home.
“Mountbatten were so supportive throughout her illness, so this is payback for me now!”
