Greenmount artwork illustrates ‘My Place’

Greenmount primary school

Pupils at Greenmount Primary School won the School Participation Award at this year’s Isle of Wight County Show for their creative group artwork based on the theme ‘My place, through my eyes.’

Rather than submitting individual entries, members of the school’s Key Stage 2 Art Club chose to collaborate on a detailed mixed-media artwork, showing the Island through their eyes. Using watercolours, oil pastels, collage and pencil, the piece featured local landmarks, food, wildlife and other elements celebrating the Island’s culture and environment.

The winning work was displayed in the education area at the County Show, where it was selected as the standout entry.

County Show organiser, Graham Biss, visited the school to present the children with their award and certificate.

The school praised the children’s teamwork, creativity and collaboration on the artwork.
