The first of Wight Tri’s summer Splash and Dash events, the St Helen’s Aquathlon has taken place. Members had the choice of a 200m or 400m swim, followed by either a 2.9km or 5km (1.8 or 3.1mile) run, which started from the Duver, up into St Helens Green, and then down and along the causeway and over the sand dunes to finish along the seafront to the Fort.
The winner was new member, Steven Snarey, who completed the long course in 45m 3s, just 3 seconds outside his nominated time, second was Craig Wilson, who was 8 seconds out, and third Gary Kurth at 11 seconds over.
The next summer series event is the Yaverland Aquabike, which takes place tomorrow.
