Island swimmer, Zac Lacey, who is currently the Down Syndrome World & European 200m Butterfly Champion, has been busy with his family raising funds for the Great Britain Squad to attend a summer training camp in Spain.
Zac travelled with his dad, Neil, sister, Abi, and brother, Oli, to the Manchester marathon to join up with fellow swimmers and their families to compete in relay events at the marathon.
Zac recently won the senior disability award at the IOW Sports Foundation Awards, and his dad, Neil, also won the Service to Sport Award for his involvement in disability swimming with Seaclose Swimming Club and Down Syndrome Swimming Great Britain. One of the sponsors from the night, Tom Dawson, of BCM Wilson Hill, recently presented Neil with a £50 voucher for RT Café Grill for winning the award.
To date the campaign has raised more than £20,000 to assist the self-funded swimmers with their costs for the camp, and the European Championships, in Albufiera, Portugal, in October, where Zac will be looking to retain his 200m butterfly title.
