An Asda worker had had her long hair cropped to raise funds for the Tickled Pink breast cancer charity.
Ann Spearman, 44, had her locks shorn in the Newport store in front of customers and family.
She admitted: “I’m not really one for the spotlight, so it was quite daunting, but I had my friends, colleagues and family there supporting me.

“I have never had my hair shaved this short; it’s always been long but I have grown it for around a year for this occasion.
“Last year, four of our lads had various parts of their body shaved – head, chest, legs, so I thought it would be good for me to do something this year.
“It’s been eight years since my mum passed with pancreatic cancer, my aunt has survived breast cancer and my father has survived prostate cancer. Sometimes people don’t even realise they have the symptoms, so it’s important to support this charity.
“We have leaflets in store, and a few members of the Asda family have passed away with the disease over the years, so it’s important for us.”
Ann, from Newport, added: “It’s a strange feeling and a new experience for me. My friend Alix Linnett, who is a mobile hairdresser, cut my hair and I kept staring at the floor as it was coming off!”
So far, she has raised £240 in Asda, and collection pots are still in store for donations.
