Thirty-one ladies from Cowes Women’s Institute (WI) enjoyed their fourth annual Mystery Trip this August, and once again, the destination kept everyone guessing until the very last moment.
With plenty of speculation on the coach as to where they might end up, the first stop was revealed as Quarr Abbey, where the group enjoyed coffee before being taken on a guided tour of the historic site. Members had the chance to explore the beautiful grounds, learn about the Abbey’s history, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
After a leisurely morning, the group travelled on to Bembridge, where a cream tea at The Birdham had been booked as a treat. Laughter, chatter and plenty of scones rounded off the day in true WI style.
The trip was hailed a great success by all who took part, with many saying how much they had enjoyed both the element of surprise and the chance to spend a relaxing day together.
A spokeswoman for Cowes WI said; “Our mystery trips are always such fun, it’s lovely not knowing where we are headed until the coach pulls up. Quarr Abbey was fascinating and, of course, we all enjoyed the cream tea. Now the thinking caps are on for next year’s adventure!”
The Cowes WI holds regular meetings and outings, providing friendship, learning and fun for its members. Anyone interested in joining is warmly encouraged to get in touch.
