At the weekend there were four goals each from Ventnor’s prolific Emerson Tattersall and Whitecroft & Barton’s Ash Gulliver, a hat-trick from Northwood’s Lewis Blackmore, and two wins and a draw for our Wessex sides.
Island Leagues
Leaders Ventnor won a bruising battle at the County Ground with Shanklin 6-2, with player-of-the-match skipper, Emerson Tattersall, hitting 4 goals, including a penalty. There was 1 apiece for Liam Harper and Charlie Urry through a header. Shanklin’s goals came from sub, Chandler Builth’s 30-yard bullet and skipper, Peter Wilson, who had to don the goalkeepers gloves when keeper, Laurence Chick, got red-carded after a scuffle with Ventnor’s Liam Harper, who was also dismissed.
Current Champions W&B won 2-0 away at Northwood, with an own goal and Sam Cant strike.
Brading won 3-2 away at West Wight, with goals from Lewis Parsons, Aaron Bennett and skipper, Dan Vale, with consolation strikes from sub, Robbie Shepherd and Josh Daley. They move into 3rd place in the table.
Bembridge won 6-2 at home to Vectis, with goals from Dexter Malin, Josh Attrill, Jake McNaney, Brandon Tuckey and 2 from Barry Calvert.
Two goals each for Paul Dodd and Liam Locke, and 1 from Jamie Dyer, saw Binstead COB winning 5-4 at home to Osborne Coburg, who replied with 2 goals from Harry Green and 1 apiece from Liam Sumpter and sub, Kian Vickery.
In Division Two, goals from Sam Carter-Knight, Aaron Burford, Brad Jackson and Dylan Andrews saw Sandown & Lake win 4-0 away at Newchurch.
Leaders, High Park won 11-0 at home to Newport Res, with 2 apiece for Dan and John Robjant and 1 each from Reece Galloway, Jenson Norman, Alex Harvey, Nathan Holton, Kyle Kilroy, Chris Dibsdale and Matt Ogden.
Goals from David Chiverton, Shaun Gulliver, Gary and Josh Richardson, and 2 from Macauley Barnes saw 2nd-placed East Cowes Sports win 6-2 at home to Oakfield, who scored through Cian McGee and Ben Gardener.
Pan Community won 4-0 away at Seaview, with Jimmy Drakeford, Jordan Scutt, Aiden Reeves and Joe Drysdale on target for Pan.
Combination Leagues
In Combination One, Northwood Res won 9-1 at home to East Cowes Sports Res, with a hat-trick from Lewis Blackmore, and 1 apiece from James Butt, Wilf Roberts, Aiden Tillbrook, Leigh McKenzie, Kian Mooney and Matteo Rega.
Ventnor Res won 3-2 away at Osborne Coburg Res, who scored through Lewis Kelly and Stephen McCarthy.
Ash Gulliver scored 4, and sub, Keir Ramage 1, to help W&B Res win 5-2 away at High Park Res.
In Combination Two, Oakfield Res won 7-2 away at Bembridge A.
Sandown & Lake A won 6-5 at home to Ryde Saints Res, with an Ash Daniels hat-trick, 2 from Dale Watkins and 1 from Ollie Brown.
Ventnor A lost 7-1 in the local derby with leaders Niton Res at Watcombe Bottom, with 2 goals each from Tony Potts and Tom Brownrigg, 1 each for Edward Brotherton, Tyler Thorne, and Ryan McDowall. Paul Foster hit home the consolation goal.
Osborne Coburg Res won 6-1 at home to Newchurch Res, Tom Roberts scored the consolation goal, with winning goals from Josh Beker (2), Jason Pengelly, Lewis Kelly, Billy Allen and Jesuojie Abhulimhen-Iyoha.
Wessex Leagues
Charlie Marsek’s 90th minute goal saw Cowes win 1-0 at home to Portland United in the Premier Division.
Vics won 2-0 away to Fairford Town in the FA Vase, with goals from Jacob Reynolds after 15 minutes, and Charlie Hart in second-half injury time.
Maca Watterson’s second-half header secured Newport a 1-1 home draw with Cove, in a match that saw keeper Leon Pitman recognised for his 100th appearance.
Fixtures
In Wessex, Cowes travel to Laverstock & Ford, with Vics home to Lymington Town, and Newport away at Ringwood.
On the Island, table topping Ventnor visit W&B, Brading welcome Bembridge and West Wight are home to Vectis in Division One. In Division Two, Sandown & Lake are home to Newport Res, Pan entertain Niton, Ryde Saints host High Park, and Seaview face Newchurch.
In Combination One, High Park Res play Brading Res, Northwood Res are home to Shanklin Res, and Ventnor Res face Binstead COB Res. Combination Two sees High Park A play Newchurch Res, Niton Res home to Osborne Coburg A, Oakfield Res host Vectis Res, Ventnor A are home to Sandown & Lake A, and West Wight A welcome Bembridge A.
After postponed fixtures, Shanklin Ladies travel to AFC Stoneham in Division One, with Wight Eagles’ next game in November.
