Terror Island bags international industry award!

During this difficult time, the team behind the Isle of Wight’s newest scare event received some incredibly positive news yesterday (Tuesday, 5/5/2020).

Terror Island, the scare event held at Blackgang Chine for the first-time last October, has come out on top as ‘Best
New Event/Attraction’ in ScareCON’s industry awards ceremony, held virtually live on Facebook last night.

The award sees them now standing on the podium alongside long-standing scare attraction winners such as Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Fear at Avon Valley and Tulley Farm’s Shocktoberfest.

The team behind Terror Island collaborated with production company atmosFEAR to create three intense, immersive scare mazes that saw incredible feedback from visitors last year. Following the news, Event Manager Dominic Wray said: “A number of our team were eagerly watching the live stream last night and we’re all absolutely delighted to have scooped such a prestigious award within the industry.

I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you and well done to the entire Terror Island team; it was a labour of love and I’m immensely proud of all their dedication.

There’s a tremendous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to create an immersive event like this from the
original maze concepts, set design and build to our actors, costuming, make up, catering, marketing and visitor
operations.

We all had so much fun working on last year’s event and this recognition from ScareCON as industry leaders is fantastic. We can’t wait to get working on the next Terror Island event…fear not, we will be back!”

Awarding body ScareCON are the organisers of Europe’s only scare attraction convention and have held industry awards since 2014. Winners in all categories will be announced next month.
