Dear Editor,
Despite advice to the contrary from residents who are well informed regarding cabinet and committee structures within councils, the members of the IW Council persisted in changing their council structure from cabinet to committee earlier this year with disastrous results. The Government has now decreed that all authorities will operate under the cabinet structure.
This ridiculous decision cost us as Council Tax payers £57,000 plus countless officer hours to implement their decision and has provided no improvement in the IW Council’s ability to provide services to the Island.
We are of the firm opinion that, in view of the appalling waste of our Council Tax funds that the members of the IW Council should be obliged to refund £57,000 from their allowances back into the Council Tax budget, to be spent properly on our services where it is required.
