Bring some Latin dance rhythm into your life

Isle of Wight Salsa has been running weekly dance classes for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced dancers, for more than fifteen years.

Learning to dance is a great way to build confidence, stay active, and meet new people. Even if you think dancing isn’t for you, with the right teacher and a little practice you’ll be surprised how quickly you learn.

Salsa dancing itself offers plenty of benefits, it’s energetic, uplifting, and fantastic for improving co-ordination and fitness – all the while feeling more like fun than exercise. The music and social atmosphere also make every class feel like a mini celebration.

David, who helps run Isle of Wight Salsa, said it is great to see newcomers arrive nervous but leave after their first evening smiling, already looking forward to the next class. One dancer recalled believing that he had “two left feet” and he struggled at first, but persevered – and now credits salsa with bringing him lasting friendships, greater confidence, and a huge amount of fun.

With a team of friendly Island-based instructors and guest teachers from the mainland, Isle of Wight Salsa provides high-quality tuition and a welcoming community. Alongside weekly classes, they host regular social events and group trips to salsa clubs in Southampton and Portsmouth.

Their next beginners’ course starts on Tuesday (October 14), at 8.30pm in Ryde Methodist Church Hall. You can go along on your own or with a partner.
