High Street shops in Sandown took part in a seasonal shop front competition highlighting the range of goods and services available and the arrival of spring and a summer of activity in the seaside resort.
The competition also recognised the 40th anniversary of the town council, with first Mayor Heather Humby involved, current Mayor, Alex Lightfoot and former Mayor and Sandown heritage champion, Ian Ward.
Heather said: “Sandown has seen considerable change during my service as a local councillor, and, whilst there are significant challenges, we need to celebrate local businesses for their innovative and imaginative efforts.”
The town has recently enjoyed bank holiday fireworks, an event at Los Altos, with the Sandown Sprint this weekend, ahead of a summer of activities, including the carnival and regatta.
