Readers picture of the week

By IW Observer.co.uk May 31, 2022

This week’s picture was captured by Stephen Johnson whilst out for a walk – a very well spotted image of an adult starling feeding its young. Long-term monitoring by the British Trust for Ornithology shows that starling numbers have fallen by 66 per cent in Britain since the mid-1970s. Because of this decline in numbers, the starling is red listed as a bird of high conservation concern.
