PBs for West Wight at Island champs

Nine swimmers from West Wight Swimming Club recorded strong personal bests (PBs) at the 2025 Isle of Wight Club Championships, which took place across three weekends.

The swimmers achieved a total of 11 personal best times, across a busy programme of races, with several also setting their first official competition times.

Members of the club’s Young Olympians group completed 36 swims between them. James Chick delivered one of the standout performances, recording a 16.17-second personal best in the 200m freestyle, while Junior Marshall posted a 21.10-second improvement in the 100m freestyle.

Swimmers from the development squad also featured prominently. Arya Barker and Will Cox both produced personal bests across multiple events, as they continued their progression through the club’s pathway programme.

Across the championships as a whole, West Wight swimmers collected a total of 27 gold, 10 silver and three bronze medals.

The championships mark the opening competition of the new season for the club. Swimmers are next scheduled to compete at further events taking place from December 12 to 14, ahead of a break over the Christmas period.

West Wight Swimming Club runs regular training sessions for swimmers of different ages and abilities, with details shared through their website and Facebook page.
