One of the Island’s top photographers, Paul Blackey, has been shortlisted at the SO.CO Image of Music Awards 2024 for his black and white picture of Jarvis Cocker of Pulp at last year’s Isle of Wight Festival.
Paul, of Freshwater, said: “I’m stoked! It’s the first time I’ve entered this competition, although I’ve been shortlisted for the British Wildlife Photography Awards before and won awards for other competitions for my wildlife images in the past.”
Pulp were headlining on the Friday night, and Paul added: “The orchestra started to play and the back drop opened with this huge moon image when Jarvis started to rise up out of the stage and I was in the perfect position to capture this iconic shot.”
People can vote for any of the 20 images shortlisted on the SO.CO webpage with Paul’s photograph in the People Choice Award 2024. You can register to vote via iow.life/photovote.
