Newport’s foodbank is moving as its location is too dangerous

After 12 years of providing a Newport base for the Isle of Wight Foodbank, the Church on the Roundabout has been told that its location on Coppins Bridge is too dangerous for deliveries.

It means the IW Foodbank expressed its thanks to the church for its long-standing support but must now find a new venue in the county town to continue offering vital support to residents facing food poverty. The church expressed its sadness at the decision and said it had hoped the issues could be worked through. It’s final day as a Foodbank is today, (Friday).

On its Facebook page the church has reassured the community that it will continue all its other charitable activities. Meanwhile, the Foodbank is actively seeking a new location in Newport to ensure that service to voucher holders remains uninterrupted, advising them to visit the nearest centres in Ryde, Cowes, and The Bay in the interim.
