Male tasered in Freshwater firearms incident

A large number of police officers – including armed response – were called to Freshwater on Monday morning (December 10).

A number of police vehicles were spotted at Church Place, outside All Saints Church and The Red Lion pub, at around 9.30am. One member of the public saw police officers with what was described as ‘assault rifles’.

Police later left the scene heading towards Yarmouth.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were called just after 10.20am to assist with the operation at an address in Edinburgh Road, Freshwater.

It’s understood a man was tasered during the incident and was treated for barbs in his back by paramedics.
