Large cliff fall at Brighstone beach

Further coastal erosion has led to a considerable cliff fall at Brighstone beach overnight (evening of January 1, morning January 2).

A number of landslips hit the Isle of Wight coast over the festive break.

Coastal erosion at Brook Beach has led to the path dropping by almost a foot.

Walkers will now find access to the beach more difficult, as much of the path has now washed away, narrowing the pathway and making the climb down steeper.

There has also been a further landslip at Alum Bay Chine, leading to the closure of the path to the beach as the steps are now in too dangerous a condition to be used.
