Police raid on Ryde property

There was a large police presence in Mitchell’s Road, Ryde, at just before 9.30 am this morning (Wednesday, January 2).

Officers wearing blue gloves and carrying evidence bags searched a property following a raid at a cottage on the road. A car parked on the driveway was also examined by the officers.

A specialist drugs dog from the Hampshire and Thames Valley dog unit also took part in the raid.

The raid is understood to have been a targeted operation conducted by officers who had obtained a warrant in relation to the supply of drugs

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis, and has been taken into custody.

An Isle of Wight Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that specialist officers are assisting the neighbourhood policing team to execute a pre-planned warrant at an address on Mitchell’s Road in Ryde.

“The warrant relates to an investigation into the supply of drugs.”
