Isle of Wight residents are being invited to help shape the future of local food, growing through a new collaborative initiative bringing together community groups and public bodies.
The community growing survey has been launched by the IW Food Partnership, IW Council, and the IW Biosphere Steering Committee. It aims to build a clearer picture of food-growing activity across the Island, and to support future collaboration.
The survey will map existing community growing spaces, identify current capacity and future needs, and help connect individuals and groups interested in learning, sharing skills, and working together on joint projects. It is open to anyone already involved in growing, including community gardens, allotment holders, parish councils, schools, charities and local businesses, as well as individuals with an interest in food production.
Residents who are not currently growing food are also encouraged to take part, particularly those who may have land available or would like to become involved in future projects.
The survey will remain open until January 5. After this date, a meeting will be held to share the findings and agree next steps, including developing practical plans for the year ahead.
Feedback will be used to support a more connected and sustainable approach to food growing across the Island.
