Cllr Ian Ward has revealed the next stage in the long-running saga of the Ocean Hotel, on Sandown’s seafront, will take place later this month.
A preliminary hearing at the end of May will set a date for a hearing in the IW Crown Court to decide the outcome of the appeal by Phoenix Commercial Property Developments (PCPD) against an Enforcement Notice served on them by the Isle of Wight Council. The notice requires them to secure and tidy up the site, which has been branded an eyesore by numerous residents. There will also be other procedural matters to be decided.
Cllr Ward said: “This really has been going on far too long. We must all hope that the Crown Court throws out their appeal. The owners would then be required to carry out the works detailed in the enforcement order.
“This legal action appears to me to be being used as a delaying tactic.”
